Synthesis of Chiral 1,3-Diketones from the Coupling Reaction of (+)-3a-Bromocamphor with Acyl Chlorides in the Presence of Samarium Diiodide

Some hindered chiral 1,3-diketones were successfully synthesized from the reaction of (+)-3a-bromocamphor with acyl chlorides in the presence of samarium diiodide (SmI₂) under mild reaction conditions in high yields.
